Las Vegas, Nevada: Paris, Venice, New York Rolled into One

One afternoon, a group of us played tourist in Las Vegas, starting with an Italian lunch at the Buca di Beppo (l-r: Sita Yan, Marieke Samonte, Lauren Brainard, Cecilia Brainard, Marily Orosa, Nini Arzadon - click on the other pictures to make larger).

From there, we visited the Bellagio hotel-casino and were entranced by its atrium with butterflies and colorful flowers. Inside, the lobby has a fabulous ceiling feature of huge glass flowers; they look like Murano glass.  Out on the bridge, we admired the Fountains of Bellagio, a sprawling water feature in front of the casino hotel with waters that "dance" to music. We didn't visit it this time, but the Bellagio has a Gallery of Fine Art that features world famous art.

There are pictures of the Paris Las Vegas hotel casino with yes - a fake Eiffel Tower!

There's also a picture taken at the Venetian Las Vegas hotel casino, yes, with a fake Venice canal but real gondolas!

There's a lot of "pretend" in Las Vegas, and you just take it with a grain of salt and enjoy.

We all did a bit of gambling and only one of us won. But as I mentioned in an earlier blog entry, these casino-hotels aren't standing because they're giving out money.

I'm back to reality, dear Readers and I start teaching a beginning writing class this week at the Writers Program at UCLA Extension, so if you're interested, you can still register - call 1-310-206-0951, ask for Katy Flaherty.
