Islamic State: How Evil Flourishes & The Power of the Media

I have two thoughts in my head this morning. The first has to do with how evil flourishes or is allowed to grow; and the second is that the media is powerful and can influence people's minds.

I'm really think about the Islamic State (or ISIL, ISIS, IS).

Standing back and doing nothing will allow ISIL to grow even more.

And second, we need to keep in mind that ISIL is a master of propaganda. We have seen their slick and aggressive postings in the social media.  I have also noticed that now that the air strikes against them have begun, there are media news claiming: the air strikes are not effective; watch out because ISIL and al-Nustra will combine forces; civilians are now resentful at the air strikes, and so on.

It's good to keep in mind that a lot of the above is probably propaganda and that those who really have something to say have already been silenced by ISIL.  Remember the journalists and leaders killed by ISIL; remember the women enslaved, sold, tortured and killed; remember the Yazidis, Christians, Muslims, hostages, and captives slaughtered mercilessly and in countless numbers.

Remember what Einstein and Burke said about how evil flourishes:

"The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it." ~ by Albert Einstein

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
― by Edmund Burke
