Travel: Lyon, France with Max and Christine

There was one more stop we made in France, and that was to Lyon to visit our friends Christine Colin and Max Girerd. We took the fast train from Paris to spend the day with them. (I am not recommending this because Lyon deserves more than a day's visit.)

They picked us up from the train station and we visited Christine's Atelier du Griffon, where she trains wig makers the old art as it was done. The third generation wig maker in her family, Christine is one of a handful of wig makers in Europe who still knows the old art. Max is an international businessman, who loves sailing.

One really ought to spend some time in Lyon because it's a lovely city, rich in history, and famous for its food. The place is less frenetic than Paris.

We had lunch near Christine's Atelier, and after, we did a walking tour of Old Lyon. We later visited Christine's and Max's house where we had dessert and did some cherry picking. Yes, their neighbor had a cherry orchard and Max arranged for all of us to pick cherries.

At the end of the day, we caught the bullet train back to Paris. This only took two-hours.

Thanks Christine and Max!
