Gemino Henson Abad is a poet and critic from Cebu, Philippines. He served the University of the Philippines in various capacities: as Professor, Secretary of the University, Secretary of the Board of Regents, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Director of the UP Institute of Creative writing. He was elevated to the rank of University Professor, the highest academic rank awarded by the university. He currently sits on the Board of Advisors of the UP Institute of Creative writing and teaches writing as Emeritus Professor at the College of Arts and Letters, UP Diliman. Dr. Abad's co-editor of Bloodlust, Krip Yuson says: "Here are our poets, 65 of them in this collection with a total of 133 poems. Now we join our voices with those of the rest of our fellow Filipinos who cannot abide by bloodlust." The tome is a "protest against the cavalier disregard of human rights and lives."
