#NewYork Restaurant: Pictures Katz Delicatessen Brief Review

We went to Katz Delicatessen in New York because it's supposedly world-famous.

It was incredibly crowded and the food wasn't that great. They have this crazy system of handing out numbers to people, then collecting them after you've paid.  A member of our party didn't have a number, which caused quite a stir. For a rare moment my husband lost his temper and yelled, "What the h--- does it matter!"

Earlier, we had ordered a pastrami sandwich and an assorted meat platter that came with slices of bread and a side dish of kosher pickles.

I don't think it was unreasonable to expect the pastrami sandwich to be more than two pieces of bread with pastrami in the middle, but that was what we got. So we sat there for a moment, stupidly staring at that sorry-looking sandwich and our meat platter and sliced bread.

We had better pastrami sandwiches the next day from a normal deli in New York's Eastside.  And the pastrami sandwich we get at Los Angeles' Langer's http://www.langersdeli.com/ is infinitely better.

Conclusion: Don't waste your precious time standing in that long line to get into Katz in New York.
