It rained at the fiesta of San Juan Bautista or St. John the Baptist, but people took this as a blessing because:
a) it always rains during the feast day of St. John the Baptizer. In fact, in some towns, during the feast of the Baptiser, it is customary to throw water at passersby;
b) Cebu has been experiencing a drought for many months. It's only started to rain recently.
We all got a little wet during the procession (those who went), but we continued with our celebration. Pepit Revilles, Val Sandiago, Louie Nacorda, Terry Manguerra, Chona Bernad, Chinggay Utzurrum, Monina Blanco, Lynley Ocampo, Father Romeo Desuyo, and others carried on until past one a.m.
We are, at the moment, recovering. I'm sharing pictures I took last night.
Stay tuned, dear Readers, for more about my current visit to the Philippines
