I'm doing more research on how places in Southern Philippines looked like in the 1900s. These pictures were taken in Zamboanga, Mindanao. I visited Zamboanga in the 1990s, as part of a USIS (United States Information Service) lecture route. Zamboanga did not look like this; it was more crowded with other types of housing. These images present a tranquil and pristine place.
It's fascinating to see how a city can change very much in a little over a hundred years.
