If you are a Filipino or Filipino American author and had your book published this year or last, please consider participating in the Hot off the Press Reading. Contact filbookfest@yahoo.com. The Hot off the Press Reading at the 1st Filipino American International Book Festival was very popular and gathered a large audience.
Filbookfest II
Bulletin #1
Save The Date: October 19-20, 2013
for
The 2nd Filipino American International Book Festival
The Philippine American Writers and Artists (PAWA) in cooperation with the San Francisco Public Library and the Philippine Consulate General of San Francisco invite you to celebrate the best of Philippine and Filipino American literature and culture at the San Francisco Main Library at the Civic Center on Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20.
Like the highly successful Filbookfest I also held at the San Francisco Main Library in 2011, which garnered a Certificate of Honor from the City and County of San Francisco for being a milestone event for the Filipino American community, Filbookfest II will once again showcase the richness of Philippine culture through books, the visual and culinary arts, and music.
The two-day festival will feature author readings and signings, book sales, food samplings, lectures, and panel discussions. Also being arranged is a return performance of the balagtasan, an entertaining debate in poetry that is unique to the Philippines and was a big hit in the 2011 book festival.
More details will be forthcoming. Filbookfest II will be open and free to the public so please spread the word to your networks.
For authors who have published books in 2012-2013 and would like to do a reading and signing at Filbookfest II, please write us at
filbookfest@yahoo.com. Give us your name, contact information, a brief bio, book title, publisher and a description of your book.
